[Home. SLO. CA] Coffee Round 2 On a bried stop in SLO before heading back to Santa Barbara from San Francisco. I drove to SF yesterday and now driving back to SB today. What a long trip and I have to drive all the way. I ended up buying a cup of Cappuccino from Chevron for the ride back. That instant cappuccino is one of the things that I missed about coffee. I think I'm back into drinking coffee on a regular basis now. In a couple days I'll be driving down to LA again. posted at 11:10 PM by Super Ben [Marriott Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco, CA] Coffee After one yesr, two months and one day without coffee, I finally went with a friend to a cafe on pier 39 to go have a cup with him. I'm in the business center of the Marriott right now pondering whether to get some of the Starbucks that they have here in the hotel. What a tough decision. can I leave it at this one mistake or give it up and start drinking coffee again? Difficult People I hate traveling in large groups. no one can ever decide what they want. Being in San Francisco, I want to experience things that I can't at home, but at the same time trying not to look like a tourist. On our way out to dinner last night, a whole grou of people joined my broup because I was the one with more experience here. They thought that I would know the best places to go to eat. At the Wharf the best place to eat is the seafood alley. The problem was that some people didn't want to eat seafood becuase they iether didn't like it or never tried it. There were about 10 of us and we we seated as 4 girls, 2 guys (one being me), and the 4 difficult people. One student even had their first plate of spaghetti ever tonight. Splitting checks I hate getting screwed over when splitting checks. I hate it when people short out the others. Some people don't even factor in tax or tip. I end up paying the difference so that the amount looks at least right so that the next time I go there, the waiters and waitresses don't remember me as the cheap ass and not give me goos service next time. I made it so that I sat with one other person. I figure, the less people there are, the less likely you are to get screwed. I ordered myself some steak and lobster and I was happy to pay the $32.95 for it because i knew I wasn't gonna get screwed over. I gave enough tip where it was needed. On the other hand, people at the other tables actually shorted the total before tip. You have to at least pay the total! Anyways we were the second ones in and the first ones out. I hate going out to dinner in large groups. posted at 8:15 AM by Super Ben Thursday, July 26, 2001 [CCLA, SLO, CA] Cell Phone Batteries My damn phone died last night. I didn't charge it last night so I thought that it would've been ok to use it today, but I was wrong. With the cell phone that I had in Japan I went 2 days without charging and it was fine, but with the phone I have not, I think i'm gonna have to charge at least twice a day. The US need to catch up with Europe and Japan in the cell phone race. We are truly lacking behind. Jurassic Park 3 I would have to say that I was very disappointed in this movie. They should have just left it at The Lost World. (By the way, would whoever has my Lost World DVD please return it. Don't ruin it for the other peole that like to borrw my DVDs) Anyways the movie was pretty cool as a movie, but as a sequel it sucked. My only problem with it is the ending. I though it was totally weak. They could have come up with something better. I think it would have been better if we waited for Speilberg to finish his other stuff and work on the movie himself. We would have got to see something of higher quality. At least we got to see the movie in a cool theatre. The Arlington Theatre The theatre that we saw the movie in was really great. The movie had already started by the time we had gotten inside. The first thing I noticed was teh cieling. There were stars lit up all over the place. I could even make out constellations like The Big Dipper and Orion up there. To the left and right were facades of old homes and buildings with balconies that people could sit in. I think at least 1000 people could fit in this theatherif not more. It was kind of like being outdoors and watching a movie under the stars. posted at 9:51 AM by Super Ben Tuesday, July 24, 2001 [CCLA@Antioch University, Santa Barbara, CA] Sand Today we spent the afternoon activity at the volleyball courts on Santa Barbara's Beach. I love going to the beach, but I hate the sand. Sand gets everywhere and places that it shouldn't be. When you have picnics at the beach it is always a given that you will get some in your food. Whn you get home after that you'll still be chewing on sand at the dinner table. After you've already taken a shower you'll still find it on you. Can't think right now. My shoes have snd in them. I've sheken most of them out, but I know I'll find some between my toes later on. posted at 5:06 PM by Super Ben [Orange Inn, Santa Barbara, CA] Shitty Motels I've stayed in some shitty ass motels, but this one takes the cake. The rooms were really sirty. The bathroom door doesn't close unless you put your shoulder into it. You can see the patches to holes that were made in the wall. The reception on the TV sucks. The list goes on and on. I'm used in staying in hotels(emphasis on the H, unlike the M) like mine, the Holiday Inn, or the Best Western I stayed in the other day, or even teh Wyndham Suites I stayed in last week. Why in the hell did my boss put us up in a shitty place like this. But at least I'm not paying for it. posted at 8:21 AM by Super Ben |
