[Holiday Inn Express, SLO, CA] Seeing In-Theater Movies Twice Today I went and saw American Pie 2 for the second time. I don't usually see movies twice while they are still in the theater but I made this an exception becuase it is such a great movie. I saw the first one about 5 times in the theater. I really enjoyed it that much. 2 of those times were with the same group of about 6 people. American Pie 2 was worht seeing again. It did not lose the humor the second time around. I still laughed out loud. I'll also add that this sequel is just as good as the original unlike may other sequels. Since I saw American Pie 2 twice should I go see Rush Hour 2 a second time? posted at 4:44 AM by Super Ben Wednesday, August 15, 2001 [Home Home, Lathrop, CA] Hair Discrimination While sitting in the food court at Sherwood Maill in Stockton, my brother accused me of being prejudiced. he accused me of hair discrimination. What kinf of crap is that. I merely made a statement to my friend Pat. I had asked him if he would ever go out into public walking next to someone like my brother who has crazy hair. I don't think he fixed it today. Hair Discrimination is pretty funny though. Is there any logic behind that. posted at 9:02 PM by Super Ben Tuesday, August 14, 2001 [Home Home, Lathrop, CA] Filipinos It's been so long since I have had any interaction with Filipinos. Today I drove up to Lathrop to see my mom, whom I haven't seen in months. She had just had surgery for breast cancer and I haven't had much time to come up here until now. On the way here I picked up my mother's Aunt and Uncle from Hayward. They weren't home when I got there becuase I had said that I would be there later. I ended up leaving SLO earlier than I expected and got there too early for them becuase htey were still out. My mom had me check other relatives' houses to see if they were there. The next house I had gone to had a Filipino aura around it. I felt a connection to somehting that had be lost to me while living in San Luis Obispo. In SLO I don't really have many Filipino friends. I know some people, but I don't hang out with them. It's not that I don't like them, it's jsut that we are jsut to different from each other. I think I now know more on being Japanes than being Filipino. I can understand Tagalog yet I cannot speak or read and write it. I am currently learning Japanese and I can somewhat understand, speak, and read and write it. I'm not trying to lose my Filipino-ness. I try to keep it alive within myself by keeping up with other Flips on the internet. The culture is changing drastically though. I feel old when I go out and see how the high school kids are these days even though I only graduated 3 years ago. Being Japanese I am not trying to be Japanese as some people might think. It is true that I live with Japanese people and do the same things as they do and eat the same. Does my learning of Japanese language and culture mean that I am trying to become them? I don't think so. I am still the Filipino guy that I was earlier in my life. It is just mow that I am being more open to new ideas and ways of doing things. The Japanese culture has caught my attention since I was very little. My curiousity was piqued when I was introduced to my roomate my fresman year, Kazushi Takyu, from Fukushima, Japan. Through him I met others and became friend with quite a few. I've stuck with them while I have been in San Luis Obispo. My future work will involve the Japanese people and the culture. I am merely trying to understand a people that I do not know. Immersing myself is the best way to learn. posted at 9:49 PM by Super Ben Monday, August 13, 2001 [Holiday Inn Express, SLO, CA] My Writing I've never really written on a daily basis beofre. I've tried writing a journal before, but they neve lasted long. The longest one I've ever done lasted 3 months. That was when I was at Basic Training for the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. I kept it. I'll try to type it all up and post it online. The reason I'm writing is because I don't feel that my writing is up to par with what it should be. I should be able to flow with perfect structure and whatnot, but instead this flow of all sorts of stuff comes straight from my brain onto the keyboard. I guees thats why my blogs seem so screwed up. I don't really think about what I write, I just do. I hope all of this gets better everyday. I might even get to writing an autobiography or something. All I want is to let you people know what's going on in my head, but at the same time to give me practice with my writing skills. I think I may need to take more classes. I don't think I ever payed much attention in the last writing classes I took. posted at 11:27 PM by Super Ben Sunday, August 12, 2001 [New Apartment at Brizzolara, SLO, CA] Crazy Dreams 'R' Us After a period of not remembering dreams I am suddeny remembering many dreams. Am I sleeping better than I used to? Hmm... I had about 1 year when I couldn't remember any dreams and it was a while before I started waking up remembering them, but now I vividly remember some of the crazy things that I encounter. My dream last night was about a party and a stolen car. I think we were in San Francisco or somewhere in the Bay. It was a typical teenager party and cars were lined up and down the block. People were passed out and car keys were lying around. I had to go back home to Stockton and pick something up and bring back to this house. I didn't feel like driving my car because of all the miles I've beenputting on it recently so I decided to "borrow" someone elses car before they got up and realized. I think it was about 5AM when I came up with this and I was planning ot be back before 8AM. The car was a souped up honda civic with a euro lights, a huge spoiler, and all sorts of stuff. It was a typical "Rice Rocket" [insert rice rocket link here] The next thing I remember is I returned to thehouse and the girls were already up and figured out the car was gone. I don't know why I iddn' tell them I took it or returned it to the house. I just played it off like I didn't know what happened. Dream end. I would've liked to know what happened after that. I hate dreams with ascrewed up ending or with no ending at all. posted at 3:34 PM by Super Ben |
