[Work, SLO, CA] Car Wash It feels great to have a clean car. I was just too lazy to get it washed. It sucks when one isn't able to wash their car at their own apartment complex. At least it was that way at my last place. I don't know if we are allowedd to do that at our new place. Having a clean car is like having a brand new car. The car looks totally new, er, not totally, but like new. Now if I only had money for an oil change, some new tires, a tune up, and a new paint job... Zelda I haven't played video game much recently but one of the 2 new Legend of Zelda titles for the Gameboy has really hooked me. I finished it just a couple of hours ago and that also gave me a great feeling. I haven't finished a game in along time. What's different about this game thoguh is that one your complete it, you get a password to put into the other Zelda game so that you can continue in that one. You can move things back and forth between the games. I love the Legend of Zelda series. posted at 11:26 PM by Super Ben [Home, SLO, CA] Decreasing my Debt I'm so proud of myself today. I paid off one of my credit cards. Now, if I could just pay them all off. My plan to get out of debt is going well so far. posted at 6:46 PM by Super Ben [Home, SLO, CA] Using Linux I installed Linux the other day because I wanted to try something new on my computer. It took me several installs to get it right. I had to reinstall a ouple times becuase the program that connects to the internet screwed up on connecting with my DSL account. It's a little harder to learn this operating system because I have no one to mentor me. When I learned DOS, I just watched my friend Alex. In learning HTML, I had lots of people that I could learn from. I'll jsut keep fiddline with it everyday and hopefully I'll keep learning. Another one of my goals is to learn MacOS. I've been thinking of getting a Mac. My frien Pat work for Apple and he'll be able to mentor me. There are also so many Mac users everywhere. It won't be to difficult for me to learn that OS. posted at 1:26 AM by Super Ben Thursday, September 20, 2001 [Home, SLO, CA] Buying School Books The only thing I hate about school is spending the money for it. I paid $177.41 today for books for 3 classes. Some were pretty cheap, like regular books, but some were super expensive, especially the hardcover books. I'm gonna shop around at other booksstores and online to see if I can find anything cheaper. No I need to go buy a bunch of school supplies. Jamba Juice Today I wento to Jamba Juice and I ordered an "Aloha Pineapple." One of the people working the blenders was an older woman and i looked over to see a letter from the owners and her picture was on it. She's on of the 4 people that enterprised Juice Club, which them turned into Jamba Juice. It makes one feel good about a company where the owners work down on the floor with their employees. posted at 2:14 PM by Super Ben Wednesday, September 19, 2001 [Home, SLO, CA] Recovered Info I lost 12 gigs of data over a week ago and couldn't get all of it back. 5 of the 12 gigs was not backed up yet (see 9/12 Blog) and the only data I recovered was the 7 gigs that I had already backed up. I was devistated becuase withing that 5 gigs were about 6 rolls of pictures I scanned, a lot of digital camera pictures and all of my college schoolwork. A friend of mine, Yukiko, told me yesterday that my data was on her computer. I rushed over there to see if it was what I was looking for and it sure was. I wated to cry because I was so happy. I had used her computer to back up my data to when it was part of my network at the old apartment. I was so grateful that the data was there. I had planned on scanning some of those pictures today, too. I didn't think there was any chance of getting my data back so I had reformatted my system a week ago. Thank god for miracles. posted at 4:35 PM by Super Ben [Home, SLO, CA] Jetlagged, But Didn't Fly I went to sleep at 2:15am early this morning and I got up at 6:45am because I couldn't sleep. I woke up with a big headache. The headache actually came about last night and I tried to sleep it off. I don't know whether that headache is the result of a lot of sleeping. I don't think I slept too much because I got up at 2:30PM yeasterday. I know I get headaches when I sleep too much. I took some aspirin earlier and then tried to go back to sleep, but that was a bad idea. I hadn't eaten and it ended up giving me a stomach ache as well. I've been working too much of the night audit shift at the hotel. It's kind of hard to get my body back into regular time after working tht shift 4 nights in a row. I usually work it 2 nights and that's like pulling a couple of all-nighters. Now that school's about to start again I'm gonna have to cut down those shifts to the 2 nights I had before. Working that shift during school is great becuase I have time to study and getting paid at the same time. Who could aske for anyhtign better? posted at 8:08 AM by Super Ben Monday, September 17, 2001 [Home, SLO, CA] Screwing Up Software I upgraded my friend Kaori's computer to Microsoft Office XP the other day and I lost her Outlook Express Address Book. This happened once before when her laptop was upgraded to Office 2000. The hard thing about her computer is that it has Japanese Windows 98 and the programs being installed are English version. I should have backed it up before installing the program. The funny thihng is that it brought up her old messages, but not her address book. Damn Microsoft! They always make things dificult. Decreasing Debt I came up with a plan while at work to pay down my debts. By the end of next month I'm going to pay off one credit card when I get my financial aid. I'm going to close that account when I pay it off so tha tI won't be tempted to use it. I'm going to liquidiate my small savings account becuase the 4.43% that it is earning is nothing compares to the 15.9% on one of my credit cards. My goal is to pay off my debt by the end of next summer. I want to be debt free before I graduate from CalPoly. The Federal reserve Bank cut rates by 0.5% agian today. this will help out in the longrun. A Second Job I'm thinking of getting a second job to help me out with my debt decreasing crusade. I don't know what I want to look for. An associate of mine suggusted working for his company doing guard work. I could be security guard working the gate at some gated community. posted at 8:02 AM by Super Ben |
