Still Having Time Trouble
I still don't get it. I'm tired when I'm not supposed to be and I am not tired when I am supposed to be. Why can't I adjust back. And this weekend I'm gonna have to work the midnight shift again and my clock will really be screwed up.

Readjusting to CA Time
New York is only 3 hours ahead of us, but I am finding it really hard to readjust back to California time. I missed my physics class today because I was so tired. When I tried to slep last night and the night before, I couldn't. it doesn't make much sense to me because when it is late night here, it is even more late in New York and I should be even more tired, yet I lay in my bed wide awake.

Rushing the Lab
We rushed through our lab so fast today that I now have so much time before my next class. Doc Brown took so long to explain every station that we got bored and started answering the labs on the sheets without actually doing them. A lot of the answers are just common sense. We rushed o fast that we were the first ones done.

College Clothes
I used to complain about people wearing college clothes from other schools. The usual things I see around here are UCLA sweatshirts, or University of Michigan jackets, or like my friend Andy Black, a CSU Humboldt cap. I windered why these people wouldn't sport things with their own school's name (CalPoly). I wore my calpoly stuff all the time because I am proud to go to school here. But today I am wearing a Columbia University shirt. Come to think about it, I work a Columbia Univerity cap for quite a while last year. I guess the cap slipped my mind because it doesn't really count much since people wear them everyday. while at CU I bought a sweatshirt, a long sleeve shirt, and a short sleeve shirt. I was also considering buying some windbreaker pants, but left them at the last minute. Wear what you like because I now see why people wear other schools' clothing.

Back in California
It's great to be back home. It was so wonderful to see San Francisco, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and all of the familiar california sights while flying back here. I did notice what was missing while I was in New York City. There were no mountains there. Here in Cali, the mountains are everywhere. I guess we take those for granted, too. I also missed the mountains while I was doing my basic training at Fort Leonard Wod, MO. It was all flat land out there. Sure is great to be back in my room. I can't wait until my head hits the pillow.

Leaving New York, New York
I like posting from 2 places in the same day so here I am posting from New York before heading back to California. I'm leaving a day early because I've almost had enough. I don't want to kill off all of the excitement that New York City has to offer. I'll save the rest for next time.

Walking Over 100 Blocks
I don't know exactly how many blocks I walked today, but I know it was over 116. I started at 116th Street and just wanted to explore the Morningside Heights area before hopping on the subway to head downtown. I walked for a while and passed up a couple of subway stations and figured that I could walk a little bit more and catch it at the next one. I passed by the 103rd St station and then thought to myself that I could walk to the 96th St station so that I could walk at least 20 blocks. I get to 96th and decide to walk more because Broadway was pretty lively. It wasn't cold so I kept walking. Next thing I knew, I started to see familiar sites. I was at

Times Square in no time. Times Square is located at 42nd and Broadway. I had already walked 74 blocks by that time. I kept walking because I knew the area and just wanted to walk through. My next goal was 16th St so that I could say I walked 100 blocks. When I got to 16th I figured I might as well go the whole way. I finally reached 1st Street and saw that there were more blocks left to go. I was in Greenwich Village when the streets ran out.

I asked a police officer how many more streets there were till the end, but he wasn't from around the place either. I just kept on walking. I started to notice a lot of security and then I came upon the World Trade Center. I'll post the pics that I took up on my NYC Adventure page when I get it up. The feeling is still there even after almost 2 months after the event. I could taste the dust and what not in the air. I thought the whole time that in that dust was also the ashes of those involved. I lingered for a few minutes before continuing my trek.

An officer at the site told me that I wasn't too far from the end of the island. It turned out to be about 4 more blocks to the end. I was thinking of taking the ferry across to Staten Island, but I decided to walk around Wall St. and the Financial District. I got so far in that there were no more subway stations. I had to double back so that I could head back to Queens. What a long day!

Columbia University Live Webcam
As I sat on the steps of Lowe Library at Columbia University, I remembered that there was a Columbia University Live webcam. I quickly called my friend Pat from my cell phone to take some screengrabs so that I could post them up on my page. I'll re-edit this blog later on to include a picture. as I spoke with him on the phone, he saw me in real time walking down the steps of Lowe Library. He also go a video clip from the webcam in which I am in 3 or 4 of the frames. check my movies page to see the clip when I put it up.

Dr. Benedict N. Corpuz
I like the sound of that. I'm not sure yet whether to go with a Ph.D. or a M.A. from Columbia University in their East Asian Regional Studies program or the East Asian Language and Cultures program. I am sure though that I want to go to Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Columbia University.

Getting Drunk
Last night we all went to Faces & Names again. We had a bigger group tonight. We got some wine and then got some more drinks. I also had shots of Jose Cuervo and Jack Daniels. I got totally wasted. The bar scene is totally different in New York. In California, no one is allowed to smoke indoors. That's something that we Californians take for granted. One can go to the bar and not smell like smoke then they got home. All of my clothes smell like smoke now from being out and about here. It's Ok though, I had fun. I've never really been out to bars back in San Luis Obispo.

Mike Ditka
while we were sitting in the Bar, Mike Ditka and his followers step in. They then decide to sit next to us. It was really amazing that he sat near us. Brett, one of the guys I was with, wa trippin because he was there. he immediately started calling all of his friends. It was pretty exciting to see a celibrity in New York. Rupert G or the Hello Deli next to the Late Show theatre was another celebrity that I saw. anyways back to Mike Ditka. He's a pretty old guy, but he had all sorts of young women with him. He was kissing all up on htem. These girls also acted as bodyguards to him by blocking all of these people that were trying to be next to him. Crazy sports fans!
