Home Videos
As I was sitting in front of the TV reviewing an old video to capture images from, I got sick to my stomach. All of the movements of the camera gave me motion sickness. It almost gave me a headache, but I stopped it. When I played it on my computer in a small window, I was able to watch it just fine, but on a biggger screen, it was terrible. I leanred that when I get a video camera, I will get one with steadycam built in to reduce on the movement. I will also try to keep my camera as still as possible because I don't want to lose their attention. i don't want them throwing up on my rug either.

Pennies
Why is it that people never pick up pennies. I usually do. Today I picked up 5 of them. At Burger King, I saw a girl drop a penny and not pick it up. She watched it fall and then saw what it was and walked away from it. I didn't pick it up myself, but I wondered if I did would she ask for it. Did she not pick it up becaus eshe was lazy, or does she not care about the value of a penny. Had it been a nickel, dime, or quarter, she would have picked it up. Pennies are money, too. If you don't want yours, I will gladly take them.

Big Straws
Has anyone ever noticed how big the straws at Jack-in-the-Crack (aka Jack-in-the-Box). Those straws a super extra wide. Do they really want us to drink up more soda than usual. Or do they want us to get full faster?

A New Computer Lab
Right now I am in my GRC-201 Class learning about Macs. This is my first formal class on any kind of Mac. That is if the Apple IIe's we used in Elementary school don't count. I figured that this would be a good class to take, even though it was for majors only.

In this room, they happened to use a naming scheme of countries. I just happened to sit at a computer called 'Japan.' Penny took us on a tour of the department to see what kind of equipment there is. There are all sorts of giant printing machines. Some of them are jsut $600,000 printers that do everything including stapling, drilling, and binding. We even saw the room which housed the presses that the Mustang Daily was printed on.

Second Day of School
Just in my first hour I learned some good ways of making life better and maybe worse.
Sneezing- My Speech Communication Professor suggested that we learn to sneeze into our sleeves instead of our hand because it is more sanitary. We thing we are preventing the spread of germs when we cover our mouthes with our hand, but we are actually spreading it more. When we sneeze into our hands, we will eventually pass the germs on because we touch many public things like handrails and doorknobs. By sneezing into our sleeves we can prevent the spread of the germs and keep them to ourselves and help everyone stay healthy and happy.

Eye Contact- The same prof. also suggested that we use eye contact to sell the truth. Eye contact establishes trustworthiness. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.

School Desks- I would never set my food directly down onto a school desk. I don't know how many poeple have touched it before me, or when it was last cleaned. This girl in my PoliSci class put her croissant down on her desk and i sat there for quite a while. She slowly picked away at it and eventually consumed the whole thing. It was sick watching that because I know that these desks are crawling with all sorts of bacteria from the many people that touched them.

My Gripe of the Day
Los Osos is too damned far. Why does it have to be way out there. To get to the road that gets out there takes a while also, but once you are on the road, it is smooth sailing. I wish that Los Osos was closer or that San Luis Obispo was closer to them. It is jsut too much trouble to hop in a car and go out there unless you planned to spend quite a while there.

My Observations for the Day
Big Desks- In my Graphics Communication class we have big ass desks.

Former Co-Workers- In two of my classes, I have former co-workers of mine from H=the Holiday Inn Express as my classmates, Serra and Brian.

Names- All of my teachers this quarter are on a first name basis. Although Dr. Cyd Ropp prefers the Dr. in there, she can allow some of us to call her by her first name.

"Hella"- I'm from NorCal so I say "hella" to mean "a lot." This girl in my Argumentation class said she was from Los Angeles and she never says "hella".

People Watchers- There were others "people watching" me today. They noticed taht I was the only Democratic guy in my class. All other guys were Republicans. How dare they! It's my job to notice little things like that.

Learning Chinese
I have recently been intrigued by the Chinese Language. Some of my friends have been teachign me some words, but it is very difficult to learn the sounds. Teh same syllable like "ma" can be mronounced in as many as 7 different ways. As soon as I get more proficient with Japanese, I might be able to start to get Chinese down. I am able to distinguish words and kind of figure out what my friends were saying. I did enjoy listening to their speaking because they switched off between Chinese, Japanese, and English as if they were all teh same language.

First Day of School Winter 2002 Quarter
Today was my first day of school for 2002. It feels good to be back at school, but I know I'm gonna hate it. I do like having my classes at 7:00am. It feels good to get 2 classes done before noon. The only bad par tof my schedule is the extra hour that I have in between my 2 afternoon classes.
Crashing Classes- So many people are trying to crash classes. I'm glad that I got first priority cause I got all the classes I wanted. I didn't have to crash any clases this quarter. For the people that are crashing clases, the teachers are having many problems letting them. There are non-majors trying to get into major-only classes (like me, but I already have what I want). There are people who no longer have anymore classes to take because they have completed their GEs. And then there are teh seniors that have the highest priority.

Guy to Girl Ratio- In all of my classes there are way more girls than guys.

Cute Girls- Because there are more girls in my classes, there are more cute girls in my classes than I expected. Pretty cool for me cause it keeps my classes interesting.

Congegrating Asians- In my Political Science Class a whole bunch of asian guys came in and they congregated right behind me. I didn't want the teacher thinking I was part of them becasue they were a group of friends and they seemed to be trouble-makers. After class started, he damanded that they move and he sat one person in the front and told him to stay there all quarter. I do think he was a little peeved.

Racism- I don't know whether this was a racist event. It seemed like it, but the Asian guys caused it.

Speaking Out In Class- I find myself speaking out more in my classes this quarter. I don't knw where this sudden braveness came from. I think that I am more confident about my schooling this quarter and that I know enough to actually speak out in class.

Learning Macs- I'm finally gonna learn Macs formally. I've been messing with them off anf on, but now I finally get to sit down and figure out the whole process. We were told today that we get to use brand new G4s.

Girl Falling- There was this girl that I saw was walking by and she suddenly tripped over the curb. It was her fault because she was talking on her cell phone. I wouldn't want to be driving with or near her.

Looking at nothing- As I was walkign I noticed this person standing in one spot for the longest time staring into nothingness. They were like dazed or something.

Long time no see- People excitedly greeted each other as they saw each other for the first time since break. Guys just say , "Wassup," whereas girls scream and yell and hug each other and stuff.

Unexpected Bonuses
I just bought an 18 gigabye hard drive for my computer from Best Buy. I bought it because it had a $20 rebate. this one was $79.99 and anoher 20 gig one was $84.99 and better quality. When I opened the box, there was a note that said I had more space than what was stated on the box. I was surprised and happy too.

This is truly a good promo on the company's behalf. They have been pushed up a notch in y eyes.

Expensive Textbooks
School sarts tomorrow and I have already bought all of m textbooks. The grand total was $250.95! Damn, that's hella expensive for used books. I can't really afford that. I logged onto Amazon.com and found a couple of the books for a little cheaper. These books were new, too. I even have a $10 gift certificate with them. I can pobably find a coupon code to get more money off. I got a new book a couple years ago for half the cost of what it was in he bookstore.

The school bookstore is supposed to give us a break on this stuff but some of the books ae selling for retail or sometimes higher. I couldn't believe that when I saw it last year. I was gonna say something to the bookstore, but I got really lazy. I should have exposed them.

All my money's gone, so how am I gonna ay rent now?

Getting Put On Hold In Japan
While talking to my ex-girlfriend, Kaori, in Japan, she put me on hold. When you get pu on hold in Japan, music plays. It's much like our "on-hold" music, but theirs varies and coninually plays. This time I heard Christmas Music, before I have heard "ringtone" type melodies, much like the ones that the ice-cream man makes when he makes his rounds. We should have a system like that here, but after I think about it, we really don't. Our friends dont keep us on hold that long anyways.

Working Late(or Early?)
I wish I was in my bed now, but i have to stay here for another couple hours. I am getting very tired and there's nothing going on. i've already called my friends in Japan and nobody is signed onto my AOL Instant Messenger or MSN Messenger lists besides myself. i want to read my Harry Potter book, but it might make my eyes tired. Oh well. I guess I'll clean or something. I just need to keep myself awake.

No Meat Please
I've decided to limit my intake of red meat. Red meat used to satisfy me a lot, but now I have learned that I can eat and be satisfied with many other foods. Today was an all vegetarian lunch for me. Tonight i was thinking of eating some hummus. I really like that. For those of you that don't know, hummus is pureed garbanzo beans with some spices mixed in. I don't wnat to do that "salad only" deal so I am exploring alternatives. We'll see how long this lasts.
