More Hotel Problems
There are always problems going on with our equipment. These computers and credit card machines are just too darn old. We need to get with the times and upgrade to newer hardware. Were still using tape backup drives. I was on the phone with the Holiday Inn Front Desk system support for more than 2 hours trying to remedy the situation. He had me tracing all sorts of cables back and forth seeing if things were connected in the right places. Of course they were. This was a software problem. I knew that but I didn't want to disturb the guy becuase I know he was going through the list and following procedure. I decided to get down on all fours and go through all of that dusty stuff in back of the computer. After all of that the guy on the phone didn't know what to do so it was time to call the higher-ups to see if IBM needs to be called.

A 24 hour on-call IBM tech telephoned the hotel and told us that he couldn't find a tape drive near here. He had to replace ours with a new one, but the only one he could find was on the east coast. It's not going to get fixed today so I guess tonight I won't be able to complete the audit properly.

Helping Others Out
During the same morning I helped out a guy that was trying to go skiing. Skiing in SLO you ask. Let me explain. This guy was concerned that he lost the group he was going skiing with. They were to meet at the Veteran's Hall across the street with a 5:00am departure. There was another bus parked there and he thought that it was the one he was going on. I told him that the bus belongs to the Stanford Runby Team staying here. He didn't see anyone else that was going to go skiing so he came to the hotel to call around. He made a couple of calls and kept coming up asking me for change, but i decided to let him use the front desk phone instead. He confirmed the time and the place, but still no one was there. He was really bummed out. He contacted his ride and had to call them back to SLO from Santa Maria. He told me he really wanted to go skiing and he started in his teens and really loved it. He now goes as much as he can. He reiterated how bummed he was. I told him that he could have some breakfast and he really appreciated my offer. He wanted to pay me, but I refused. I told him "what goes around comes around." I hope if I'm ever in a situation like that, ther ewill be someone out there to help me out.

Dream Continuation
The more I think about it, the more I forget my dream. It's best to write about it now before I forget. This morning I woke up at 10:45 and remembered my dream. I didn't think anything of it. I woke up becuase I need to use the bathroom. After I was done I briefly thought about my dream and then nothing else. Later today, I took at nap at around 6:30. When I woke up at 9:30pm, I remembered my dream and it seemed to be a continuation of the first dream. It was really wierd. I jsut wish I could continue certain dreams (if you know what I mean). I would also like to be able to control what goes on in my dreams. Some people actually know how to do that. There are so amny things that I would do in my dream if I knew I was dreaming. I'm sure many of us would do the same if we could. We'll see if my dream has a part 3.

Computers Crashing
My computer has been crashing way too often. Damn Windows! I should get a Mac. Maybe an iBook. I think I just need to upgrade my PC to something a lot faster and install Windows XP because it is more stable than 98, which I am running right now. I want to upgrade to an Athlon 1.4Ghz like I built for my brother. The computer I made him was pretty sweet. It had a 40 GB Hard Drive, a Sony DVD-Rom, and an ATI All-in-Wonder Video card. The case I got was also pretty cool. I hope I get my refund soon because I am going to get a phat return.

Spam Mail
I recieved a piece of spam in my inbox that told me that I could have my own domain. The example they gave me was BenedictCorpuz.com. Hmm... that's odd. I thought I already had that. They then gave more examples saying that my e-mail address could look like. Anyways here is the spam mail below:

    Hi Benedict,

Chances are you'll switch ISPs in the next year. Or possibly change jobs.

This means yet another e-mail address and the inconvenience of notifying
all your personal and business contacts.

And free e-mail account providers, including Yahoo and Hotmail, brand themselves,
not you or your business! Your e-mail address should be a reflection of you.

Avoid the hassle, and always stand out with your own personalized e-mail address:
    Benedict@BenedictCorpuz.com Now that's unforgettable!

Click here to get Benedict@BenedictCorpuz.com now.

I clicked just to see what I could find, but they didn't even list BenedictCorpuz.com. instead they had things like BenedictCorpuz1.com, or BenedictCorpuzPlace.com, or BenedictCorpuzDomain.com. I couldn't help but laugh. First they send me an ad to sell me something, I already had, and when I go look, they don't even have it.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I just finished reading the 4th Harry Potter book. Boy was this one long, but a great read. This book was 734 pages long and was by far the best of the four. Each book keeps getting better and better as the series progresses. I just wanted to read 2 chapters tonight because I have class at 7:00am (in less than 4 hours), but ended up reading the whole thing. I did that with the last book. I like to drag books on because it seems like you get more out of it the longer you use it. It's ok if I get through something fast because my love for reading has returned. I wonder what book I will enjoy next.

Doing My Taxes
I just go done doing my taxes. I am only 82 days ahead of schedule. That's one burden off of my back. I can't wait to get my refund. I think I'm going to upgrade my computer system or get a new digital camera.

Food Battle
My roommate brought back a video with some Japaense shows on it. There was one show that we were watching called food battle. It involved people bidding on how much food they can eat. The competition at first was to eat your way to the end of the line. Plates were lined up with food on them and the contestants ate their way to the end and rang the bell to advance. Of course they didn't have the next competition on the same day. I think we watched the finals becuase poele were bidding on so much food. They had to eat the food within a time limit.

One guy ate 8 plates worth of noodles and vegetables. Each plate was about 1 kilogram worth of food. 8 times 2.2 lbs (that's what 1 kilo is) is 17.6 lbs worth of food. Where the hell did he put that? Another guy downed 25 bottles of iced coffe in 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Another guy at 35 pancakes in 5 minutes. Where was one guy that at 146 strawberries in 10 minutes. He was pretty quick with popping all of those in his mouth. One guy with a broken arm had to eat 80 sausages in like 15 minutes. He barely made it. Those sausages were freaking huge.

It's always great to watch these Japanese shows. You get to see things, crazy things, that you would never see on American television.
