[Home, SLO, CA] Asians at the Beach Today I was woken up by 8 calls to go to a beach party. I did get off work at 7am and the beach BBQ was fron 12-4pm. I decided around 1pm that I was going to get up and go. I got one call from Kaori saying that she was going, but didn't know what itme she was gonna be there. I got another call from Hiroki asking if I was going. He didn't ask me directly, but I know he wanted a ride. Then I got another call from Aya saying that they couldn't find Hiroki, but had to leave so that they could get the food and party started at the beach. There were other non-beach BBQ calls, but I did finally decide to get up and go take a shower. I called Hiroki, too, but he wasn't home. I headed to Taco Bell becuase I thought that Taco's would be a good idea for the beach. Everyone did end up liking the tacos because it was different and everyone loves Taco Bell. As I was pulling out of Taco Bell, Hiroki gives me a call and I tell him that I'm coming right over to pick him up. We didn't have time for him to get something so we ended up splitting the cost of the tacos. Actually it was my fault caus eI drove us to my friends anime store. We spent a little while in there and Hiroki ended up getting a Ranma book. I left the place with money still itching a hole in my pocket. Anyways we eventually made it to the beach. There were more people than I expected. They we all Cuesta, CalPoly, and CCLA students. Most were playing volleyball. I had never seen that in a primarily white dominted area. This was a total Asian group composed of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hmong, Vietnamese, and Filipinos. Pretty wierd to see these people at the beach. Anyways we go to eating and talking and stuff. It was pretty cool even thought I wasn't dresed for it. I was actually dressed to go out. posted at 10:44 PM by Super Ben [Holiday Inn Express, SLO, CA] Two Years on the Job Iremember when I was first hired. It took a while for the front desk manager, Barbara, to give me a call back. I thought that they would never call, but one days I got a message and called back. She asked me if I wanted to start on Thursday, May 25, 2000, but I responded with, "Can I start tomorrow? (the 24th)" Barbara was a bit surprised with my enthusuasm. I started out doing the Breakfast Bar for quite a while. I then moved to the front desk after watching the people up there. I remember one time when I was still doing the BB, Jana had me stay and watch how she handled stuff at the desk since she was working alone. I guess she just didn't want to be up there all by herself. We even left the desk for a long period of time to go eat lunch downstairs. I was worried that we might get in trouble, but Jana told me, "Fuck it!" I took a long vacation at the end of the year because I went to Japan. I spent 3 weeks there. I came back to work and a couple weeks later they needed a night auditor. I felt bad for taking the 3 weeks off and burdening everyone to cover shifts so I decided to start doing the night audit. It wasn't so bad and I could get my homework done. But sometimes the nights are way too long and I start dozing off in the 5th and 6th hours. Working 11pm to 7am really isn't that bad. You just have to readjust back to normal time and then readjust again to night time. It doesn't really matter to me because working at that time is like being on Japan time. Happy 50th Holiday Inn Kemmons Wilson started Holiday Inns after a roadtrip gone bad in 1951. But with his ideas of the perfect place to stay came many firsts like: Hallway Ice Machines, Pools at every property, kids eat free, kids free in parents rooms, a computerized reservations system, online booking, and many other things. i'm glad to be part of something good. posted at 2:02 AM by Super Ben Thursday, May 23, 2002 [Home, SLO, CA] Strange Conversation Tonight I had a conversation with my firend Sayuri. They find me so interesting and fascinating. I could go on and on with my story, but I point them to my website for a taste. I am just me. I do whatever is interesting and to enlighten my life. I think people should let loose a little more and then live freely. If they did so, they would be so interested in their lives. They would have interesting lives of their own. posted at 10:39 AM by Super Ben Monday, May 20, 2002 [Home, SLO, CA] Long Windows Installation I tried installing windows on my iBook using virtual PC, but it took so long. After the 4 hours I used up trying to install it, it didn't complete. Damn! It sucks. Now I have to spend another couple hours trying to do it again. I think it'd be pretty cool to run windows on my iBook jsut for novelty. posted at 11:33 PM by Super Ben Sunday, May 19, 2002 [Home, SLO, CA] Good and Bad Japanese Restaurants Today, my friends and I wanted to go eat at my favorite Japanese restaurant, Tsurugi. I let them go ahead of me because I wanted to ge ta lottery ticket. When I finally went, I saw that the restaurant was closed and my friend we nowhere to be found. I found them a couple minutes later. I haven't been there for such a long time becuase of personal reasons and some beef that I have with an employee. Why on this day that I wanted to go were they closed? Anyways I have a list of complaints about Sakura: The tea they serves wasn't even green tea. There were only two Japanese poeple out of all the staff. The Gyoza sucked.. The wrappers were too soft and the meat was undercooked. There were too many cucumbers in everything. I hate cucumbers. I told them I don't want any clam sushi and when I got my sushi, where was on giant clam piece there. Each piece of sushi had too much wasabi. I don't like bell peppers and they gave me bell pepper tempura. The bottom line is that I will never eat here again. I gave them a chance, but no more. posted at 8:39 PM by Super Ben |
