[holiday inn express, slo, ca] Fun Fun Fun Having my friend Yuka over from Japan is fun. I met her only a month ago today (7/17) and she went back home to Japan on 7/29 and came back here yesterday to stay until 8/29. That's quite a trip. But I am sure glad she is here. My roommate won't be bac for a while, but having her here will keep me company. I hope good things will happen while she is here. She's full of surprises. One thing is that her suitcase is superlight, only 16kgs. For other students that have stayed for 2 weeks, their suitcases were about 30kgs. And in her suitcase were a couple of books. I thought girls usually pack a lot. I would pack more than that if I was going out of the country for 2 weeks. posted at 11:51 PM by Super Ben [home, slo, ca] Damn LA Traffic Jam Yesterday I drove down to LA to pick up my friend Yuka at LAX. She's gonna be staying with me for two weeks. Anyways her plane was to come in at 15:05 so I left SLO at 10:30. I figured that she was gonna get out at around 15:45-16:00 because of Immigration and Baggage claim. The last stretch of 15 miles of I-405 that usually takes 15 minutes on a good day, too me 1.5 hours from 101/405 to LAX. I got there and was searching for her. AFter circling around a couple times, I saw her sitting by the door. It turned out that her plane ended up being late so when I got there at 16:30, she was just getting out. posted at 8:06 AM by Super Ben Wednesday, August 14, 2002 [home, slo, ca] Cloud Complaints I was inside AM/PM earlier today when I overheard a woman complaining about the weather in SLO. She said that she left her town to escape the fog, but got here to find out that it was foggy also. It was around 9:00 and the clerk told her that it was because of the area we are in, a place with coastal climate. Convience stores may have everything, but they canno control the weather. That woman wanted them to do something about it, but obviously they couldn't. And then when I stepped outside, the fog started to disappear and the sun was peeping. i gave the woman a look and then I got into my car and took off. posted at 11:43 PM by Super Ben Tuesday, August 13, 2002 [home, slo, ca] Finding Another Network I took my friend to the store, but I decided to wait in the car. I got bored so I pulled out my iBook and I knew it was a longshot, but I turned airport on and found an open wireless network in th eMarigold Shopping Center here in SLO. It wasn't encrypted and I was able to access the router. People need to start being more secure. Drying My Car After discovering the self car wash, I now was my car there. I pay twice as much for a full service car wash and vaccuming. I figure that my car only needs vaccuming when I take it for an oil change. Since I don't have anymore people to dry the car for me (saves me the tip), I just take my car for a spin down the freeway and back. It works, but streaks arel left across the car. If I had more time, I would have towel dried it. posted at 11:05 PM by Super Ben Monday, August 12, 2002 [home, slo, ca] More in a Day Than a Week I had a pretty amazing experience today. I spent one day helping out someone and he tipped me a large amount. It was more than what I get in a week at my hotel job. The cool thing is that he will be here for 2 more weeks. posted at 11:55 PM by Super Ben Sunday, August 11, 2002 [home, slo, ca] Not Eating Japanese Food Today was the first day that I didn't eat Japanese food. I have been eating Japanese food for the last month not becuase I wanted to but because it was readily available to me. Actually the times we ate in restaurants wasn't as readily available, but available nonetheless. Other times I would cook, or others would cook for me. I haven't had hot dogs or hamburgers in such a long time. It feels kind of good. I feel a lot healthier that I have not had much junk food recently. Turning Up the Music One of my pet peeves is people turning up the radio when a song that they like comes on. First of all the radio is fine if no one has complained about it being low up to that point. Turning it up only allows you to hear the song louser and maybe hear it just a tad better, but it is still the same damn song. I have more reason to not like this, but I can't think of them now. well maybe later they'll come to me. posted at 11:52 PM by Super Ben |
