[home, slo, ca] Finishing the Order of the Phoenix It is 2:00am and I just finished reading the last 200 pages of the fifth Harry Potter book. Man, it took me quite a while to read it. I bought it on the first day on June 21 and now about a month later. Now I can't wait for the 6th and final 7th book, but those are probably years away. posted at 4:46 PM by Super Ben Thursday, July 24, 2003 [home, slo, ca] Getting to Know Everyone I was really surprised today to see so many familiar faces in the crew lounge at SFO Airport. I ran into Vanessa, who stayed at the Holiday Inn Express that I worked at before, I saw Dave and George, the pilots whom I met on my way to the Philippines, Raven, who graduated the day before and was in the class that was traing at the same time we were, Johanna, a SLO based flight attendant. David, who is one of the IOE Instructors, and quite a few others who's names I can't place, but know their faces. I saw some of them at LAX Airport the day before. It's pretty cool to be able to see these people all over the place. In Salt Lake City, I ran into Brynnly, a F/A in my class. Tiredness Where the good of the job comes in, the bad part follows. I am jsut so tired. I left my house at 9:00 am and got back at 9:30 pm. I worked only two legs this trip. I flew to SF from SLO and themn spent 3 hours waiting for my working flight to Eureka/Arcata. When we got there, we only had 15 minutes to turn the plane and head back for SF. That was my second flight and I was done. I had to spend another 3 hours waiting for a flight to come back here. And now I am so tired. I was out for 12 hours to sit on 2 and to work on 2 hours worth. But in the end, I get paid either way. posted at 11:09 PM by Super Ben Tuesday, July 22, 2003 [holiday inn, carlsbad, ca] Carlsbad It is very pleasant here in Carlsbad. It kinda feels like a bigger version of San Luis Obispo. It's right on the ocean and there's a cool breeze. I wouldn't mind coming down here for some relaxation time. Getting the kinks out I'm slowly getting used to the routine. I am gettin ghte kinks out of what I'm supposed to say and do while working the flights. Pretty soon it should be second nature to me. Well see in a couple of months. posted at 10:29 AM by Super Ben Monday, July 21, 2003 [holiday inn, carlsbad, ca] Flight Attendant Story #1 While hanging out in the crew lounge at LAX, Ginger came in from the Monterey flight. She told us the story about a rather "intoxicated" woman on the plane that brought her own wine on board and wanted to drink it. Ginger wouldn't let her. And then this woman kept asking her to relay messages to other men in the aircraft to ask them if they wanted to sit next to her. They all politely declined. So Ginger had to deal with the wman herself on the flight. So anyways they all made it to LA. And Ginger was telling us the story and then said that she was connecting to Carlsbad. Lisa and I had to get ready for this one. As I was boarding, I didn't see anyone that fit the description that Ginger gave us. And the aircraft was getting pretty full. Seated in the front row was a man, and the seat next to him belonged to me. He decided he wanted to sit in 2A so I let him. And then the last pasenger came on board; it was the drunk lady. Because the man had taken her seat, she had to take his, which was next to mine. Lisa gave me this look of, "Uh oh!" So as I was doing my announcements, this lady just kept laughing and laughing and I couldn't concentrate. Lisa finally told her off and she quieted down. I took my seat and sat next to her. She was beautiful, but just a tad drunk. When we got up to 10,000 ft, Lisa and I got up and went to the back to get away from the woman. Seeing as she quited down, I decided to go back up and sit there. She was rather pleasant after that point. We spoke about some things and she asked me about training which sparked this Utah thing with her as well as snow sports. I then noticed a wedding ring and was thinking about why this woman was acting this way if she was married. And then it got to this point where she was slowly rolling up her skirt. I saw her doing that and then decided to start staring at the wall in front of me. she asked me what i was doing because she knew that I was avoiding her on purpose (as much as I would have enjoyed watching). I told her that I was just staring off into nowhere because the day had tired me out. Man, I can't believe that someone would be like that, especially on my first day, but now I have a cool first day story. Can't wait to let the other FAs know back at LAX. posted at 11:18 AM by Super Ben |
