[fairmount hotel, winnepeg, manitoba, canada] Aurora Borealis To get from one Extreme S to another Extreme S I started out sweating in San Francisco this morning. I missed my first flight to get to Fresno because of a car accident on the altamount making me get on a later BART train than I originally planned. So I ran toward the United Express commuter terminal and tried to check in. They told me that the flight was closed out. By this time I was already sweating. The airplane door was still open so the service agent tried to call operations to let me on but the Captain said no. So I was a little worried from that point on how I was getting to work. There was only one more flight to Fresno before my showtime and it was oversold at 31 out of 30 seats and there were 27 checked in already. But I eventually made it on after one person who was a "must ride" was called to do another flight. After getting to Frenso, I worked the Fresno-Denver flight, and then Denver-Winnepeg. On the way there, we saw the Aurora Borealis (northern lights). When we landed it was snowing. We had to wait a while for them to clear the snow out of the way of the jetway. As soon as I opened the door, I threw on my overcoat, and the snow started flying in. Damn, it was cold! It was Winnepeg's first snow. As we waited for the hotel van we waited inside the terminal, as we couldn't stand outside for anymore than a minute. Aurora Borealis The crew called me up to the Flight Deck to see the Aurora Borealis. i was surprised when the First Officer asked me if I wanted to come up to see the Northern Lights. I never thought I would ever see. It was the first time I saw it, as well as the crew. It was so amazing. I was almost surreal because I could actually see the 'movement' of the lights. This was one of those things that I told myself that I would go see eventually in my life. And suddenly here was my chance. Now I have satisfied that, but I still do want to see them again because it was so amazing. posted at 11:23 PM by Super Ben |
